Awesome informative video! I’m def wondering if the Similkameen valley was a part of lake penticton as we do have a trace of lake sediment, to me it’s location and rarity hints and following reglaciation and I heard a hint of 15000 yr old sediment dating.

I watched these live when they were new. I have been watching the entire series again over the last few weeks in preparation for my trip from Ontario to British Columbia with a stop down into Washington to see some of this fascinating geology. What a wealth of knowledge these series are. I will also be rewatching the ice age floods series before I leave. Cheers from Ontario Canada.

Thank you Nick - this is going to be an epic series... If you put out a "Zentnerds" T-shirt, I'm in for that! Been spreading your geology prowess to my friends/work colleagues... fringe geologists and some of my geotech engineers are enjoying the material immensely.

Because of your Nick on the Rocks and these other videos, I developed in my 70's, new interest in Geology! After all, it is the 'bedrock' of the natural sciences! “A wild people don’t tame anything.” I’m reminded of being with the Navaho in a remote part of Monument Valley and coming upon a flock of sheep and the dogs that tended them. No fences, no shepherd. Young dogs learn from the old dogs how to mind sheep we were told.

Have you considered also going to the Index Mine? It's a spur off the Lake Serene trail and you can see inside the Index granite and also see the veins of copper ore they were trying to mine. That would be an interesting perspective as mining was a big part of settlement in the area, and it also shows some more of the local geology. The mine is fairly stable, but there is one open shaft to watch out for.

Nick, in 1929 a party of climbers climbed Glacier Peak. Jack Allison kept a journal of the adventure, John Boyd Ellis and Fredrick William Cleator photographed their travels up the Whitechuck River. Both Ellis and Cleator are well known for their photography and work with the Forest Service. The link is to the youtube video of their travels: ruclips.net/video/DofRzjL4RfM/видео.html

I would love to hear the history of Mount Daniels & Mount Hinman volcanics as it is my suspect that if you go to picnic point area between Mukelteo and Edmonds Wa above a shipwreckthat is still upon the shore there in puget sound right east of the southern tip of Whidbey Island there is a rather steep trail that decends a good 3 or 4 hundred feet along side of a sediment layered clay that i can not help but believe is direct evidence of lahars deposited from eruptions from of these peaks. Seemimgly very far away! There is a waterfall slicing into this what appears to be volcanic ash or clay. I've always wondered if i may have properly placed of the find from of its correct origin? If one were to wish to see this formation it can be located from the Mukelteo Harbor Point side by decending down thru One Club House Lane neigborhood or from the Edmonds picnic point blvd side via the Wind and Tide neighborhood the small park containing the trail head that leads down to the shore is located 100 yards west from the lower entrance sign of One Club House Lane and is in the very northwest corner of the wind and tide neighborhood. I think it would make for a good episode and far more accessible than the 26 mile journey into Mt Hinman and Mt Daniels. I've always found it interesting anyway and would love to know via you all, far more knowledgable than myself, if my suspicions have been even remotely correct! Thx and goodluck!

Those varves, those sections of varves, they must have been somewhere under the river, somewhere under the floods. The shoreline was somewhere else when those were created.

One of the reasons I didn't like geology too much in school is the vast time scales and the difficulty imagining the causes, that animation is amazing, brings geology to life, I think this would be great for teaching tools at schools.
